Welcome to HumanMeter. By downloading, installing, or using the HumanMeter application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").

1. Description of Service

HumanMeter is a mobile application that analyzes photos, videos, and voice recordings to detect potential AI-generated or manipulated content. The App provides AI Scores (probability ratings from 0 to 100), Deep Scan and Quick Check analysis modes, Trust Gym training challenges, ProofCam on-device verification, Proof Pack cryptographic receipts, and Challenge a Friend sharing features.

Important Disclaimer HumanMeter's AI detection is probabilistic, not definitive. AI Scores represent a probability assessment and should be used as one factor in your evaluation, not as absolute proof of authenticity or manipulation.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use HumanMeter only for lawful purposes. You may NOT:

  • Use the App to harass, defame, or harm others
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the App
  • Use automated systems to abuse the service or circumvent rate limits
  • Resell or redistribute analysis results commercially without authorization
  • Use the App to violate others' privacy or intellectual property rights
  • Misrepresent Proof Pack receipts or tamper with verification data
  • Create multiple accounts or device identifiers to abuse the free scan allocation

3. Credits and Purchases

Free Scans

  • All users receive 3 free scans per day, no account required
  • Free scan allocations reset daily and cannot be accumulated
  • Free scans provide the same analysis quality as credit-based scans

Credit System

  • Additional scans beyond the daily free allocation require credits
  • Credit packs can be purchased as one-time in-app purchases
  • Credits never expire once purchased
  • Credits are non-transferable between accounts or devices
  • Credits may be earned through Trust Gym challenges and Proof Pack sharing
  • Earned credits are subject to the same terms as purchased credits

In-App Purchases

  • All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store
  • Prices are displayed in your local currency
  • Purchases are final and non-refundable, except as required by law
  • For refunds, contact Apple Support at reportaproblem.apple.com

4. Trust Gym

Trust Gym provides daily challenges to help you train your ability to distinguish real content from AI-generated content. By participating in Trust Gym:

  • You acknowledge that challenges are for educational and entertainment purposes
  • Challenge results and accuracy scores are stored locally on your device
  • Bonus credits earned through challenges are subject to our credit system terms
  • We reserve the right to modify challenge frequency, difficulty, and reward amounts
  • Challenge content is curated by HumanMeter and may include both real and AI-generated media

5. Challenge a Friend

The Challenge a Friend feature allows you to share scan results and challenge others to guess whether content is real or AI-generated. By using this feature:

  • You are responsible for the content you choose to share
  • Challenges should not be used to harass, deceive, or harm others
  • Shared challenges contain only the scan result and verification data, not the original content
  • We are not responsible for how recipients interpret or act on challenge results

6. Proof Pack

Proof Pack generates cryptographic verification receipts for scan results. By using Proof Pack:

  • You understand that Proof Pack receipts verify that an analysis was performed by HumanMeter at a specific time, not that the analysis is infallible
  • HMAC-signed receipts are tamper-evident but do not guarantee the accuracy of the underlying AI analysis
  • You may share Proof Pack receipts freely, but you are responsible for context and interpretation
  • Proof Pack receipts do not contain the original scanned content

7. Intellectual Property

The HumanMeter App, including its design, features, AI models, and content, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

8. User Content

When you submit content for analysis:

  • You represent that you have the right to analyze the content
  • We do not claim ownership of the content you scan
  • We do not store content beyond the analysis session
  • ProofCam recordings are processed on-device; only content you choose to scan is transmitted

9. Enterprise and API Terms

HumanMeter may offer enterprise solutions and API access for business use. Enterprise and API usage is subject to separate enterprise agreement terms. For enterprise inquiries, contact support@humanmeter.app.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
  • 100% accuracy of AI detection results or AI Scores
  • Uninterrupted or error-free service
  • That the App will meet your specific requirements
  • That Proof Pack receipts will be accepted by any third party as definitive evidence

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
  • Damages arising from your reliance on scan results or AI Scores
  • Actions taken based on HumanMeter analysis, Proof Pack receipts, or Trust Gym results
  • Damages arising from Challenge a Friend interactions

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HumanMeter and its creators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App, sharing of Proof Pack receipts, Challenge a Friend activities, or violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

We reserve the right to:

  • Suspend or terminate your access for Terms violations
  • Modify or discontinue the App or any feature at any time
  • Refuse service to anyone for any reason

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the appropriate courts.

17. Apple-Specific Terms

If you are using the App on an Apple device:

  • These Terms are between you and HumanMeter, not Apple
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support
  • Apple is not responsible for any product warranties
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims related to the App
  • Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms
